Tough to Crack Car Puzzle # 23

This little sports car shouldn’t be too difficult to recognize, although we have (tried to) remove the most obvious details. It was known under several names, of which one has a musical link. The first of this model started life in 1959, but this is a later version. Up to you to tell us what it is and what you know about it, but PLEASE use no more than 100 words.
