This is what they do to Saabs in Cuba

Much has been said on Cuban classic cars. Like we wrote before, apart from cigars and Che Guevara mugs, Cuba's classics remain a favourite among nostalgists and tourists who visit the country. But we also know the Cubans themselves are not always too keen on them, and may prefer new or at least modern cars. Although with an average salary of 20 USD a month they are as far away as democracy. And so they have to keep their classics going by whatever parts they can get. Famously, once again.

Still, we wanted to share these images of classic Cuban Saabs that we came across. All kept on the road with good old ingenuinity and it’s challenging to find out where these parts come from. Apart from some serious windscreen replacements, skirts and spoilers, streamlined mirrors and chunky wheels, we think we recognized Fiat Seicento and Hyundai Atoz headlights, a Seat Leon grille and even Porsche rear light clusters?
