Albert Gerbel from Holland is an avid collector of model cars. His latest acquisition is the 1956 Osca MT4 1500 pictured above. The model is made by Starline in 1:43 scale and although the model looks correct, Albert has his doubts about the wheels. They look like alloy wheels but could that be possible in the mid-fifties? Starline is a serious manufacturer for whom it is almost impossible to make mistakes, but on the other hand they have fitted Lancia’s, Siata’s and Cisitalia’s with the same wheels. The company makes very nice wire wheels which are fitted on some of their other models, so it cannot be that this is Starline’s interpretation of a wire wheel. Who can shed some more light on this mystery? Were true-to- life Osca’s and others fitted with alloy wheels in the mid-fifties?
