Recently there has been some dispute about the last Pebble Beach´s Best of Show, an Isotta Fraschini 8A rebodied by Worblaufen which was originally painted in a twotone colour scheme... However it received the much coveted award while repainted entirely in black.
Only two weeks ago the "Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille" concours was celebrated in France. Unai Ona attended with his camera, and among the huge number of photos he sent, a strange white machine attracted our attention: the car pictured above. This vehicle seems to be a short wheelbase Rolls Royce Phantom II... fitted with a let's say errr... post-war coachwork. Not the work of an established coach builder however. If we observe its side lines or the recognizable windscreen we will discover easily the youthful but not so aristocratic origins of the body: a simple MG B.
The major transformation work has been carried on the rear end, where the tail lights have disappeared in favor of American style pointed wings. If we take a more accurate look we can see an American number plate, and also 1970s turn signals from an American car. Quite an interesting mix of parts. Question is: what is the message of the organizers to allow this to the Concours d'Elegance of Chantilly? What do you think if you find this car parked nearby your very original, perfectly restored Rolls Royce? Happened in this case, and you can imagine the face of the dark Rolls Royce´s owner parked aside.
Editor's update: the car did not compete and was just shown at the Rolls-Royce club zone
