The Desert Giant at Retromobile is impressive!
One of the highlights of the Retromobile show in Paris next month will be a Berliet. Not just any Berliet. The name is the Desert Giant and that says its all. It is the T100 and it is huge!
In 1957, the Berliet T100 left the Lyon plant for the Grand Palais in Paris to go on show at the Motor Show. The hall’s doors were too small for the steel colossus, and so the T100 had to go on display in a specially designed area at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre. 62 years later, the giant is back on the road to Paris, and this means transport XXXL!
Just some numbers: the truck is 5m high, 5m wide, 15m long and has a weight of 50 tonnes. It will take four days and three nights for the T100 to cover the 600 km between Lyon and Paris (so an average speed of around 7 km/h).
We are looking forward to seeing the Berliet in Paris. Let's just hope the doors are high enough and the environmentalists will stay home! Anyway, we are impressed!

The Retromobile show will be from Wednesday, February 6th to Sunday, February 10th, 2019 at Parc des expositions de la Porte de Versailles (1 place de la Porte de Versailles 75015 Paris).
