The Black, Red and Green Talbot-Lago Mystery

Back in 2007 we took this (rather blurry) picture of a 1951 Talbot-Lago that had a body made by Dutch coachbuilder Pennock. The car was a special order from a wealthy Dutchman who wanted to rally the Talbot. It was displayed at the 1952 Amsterdam car show and nothing much is known about the cars history until 1962 when it appeared in the USA. Records show that the Talbot was painted black in 1952. Recently another picture turned up on Flickr, showing the Talbot-Lago in 1962 having an Illinois licence plate and painted red. In the book ”The Great Cars” by Ralph Stein published in 1968, there’s a picture of this same Talbot, still bearing its Dutch licence plate SX-13-49 behind a California plate, but painted green. At that moment it was probably in the collection of someone from Michigan. So what happened to this Talbot-Lago in the 1950s and early sixties? Does someone know its history? Tell us about it!
