Some cars seem to vanish from the streets without you being aware. Yesterday we saw a Honda Prelude of the first generation and thought: Hey, haven’t seen one of those for ages. As it happened it was one of those seldom occasions that we didn’t have a camera with us, so we dug up this advertising photo from the 1980’s. The Prelude was introduced in November 1978 and was based on the platform of the Civic but had the mechanical parts of the Accord. But what made it so attractive is that it had a host of accessories as standard fitment, for instance a quartz digital clock (a real novelty at that time), an AM/FM stereo radio and a sliding roof. The early Prelude was quite popular, so how come we don’t see them anymore? Surely there must be an owners club?
