Return to Le Mans after 50 years

This is the Deep Sanderson 301 prototype (click main pic for photo during its build)  at its last race outing, Goodwood Revival in 2010, driven by Simon Diffey. The 301 was the first Mini derived car - yet with unique Lawrence Link suspension and rear mounted 1298cc  BMC works engine  - to race at Le Mans. The car is returning to track action at Le Mans for the Classic at La Sarthe since an ill fated 1964 race this year for its first time. Can you spot the DS 301 in the video? We did!

This year it is entered and driven by new owner Robi Bernberg. He purchased the car from a significant international collector, who bought it in 2011 intending to use it, but never getting around to it. Bernberg, from London, has gained the car's coveted FIA Historic Technical Passport papers and declares that he "Can't wait to get to Le Mans" with the challenging little car. This Deep Sanderson was restored to racing condition between 2008 and 2010 by its original designer and driver, the late Chris Lawrence, who drove the car at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2009 alongside his single seater, twin-engined Deep Sanderson 101.
