After last year´s 30th anniversary, this year´s edition of the Auto Retro Barcelona was different in many aspects. The most interesting cars seen in Barcelona last weekend were post-war classics, contrary to what we expected. Although many interesting Hispano-Suiza of the 1910-1930 era were in display, the vast majority of the unusual, rare or valuable cars were of the 1950-1970 period. Many significant Porsches, like the very first 911 sold new to Spain, shown for the first time after a ground-up restoration (photo 2) or the 356 Pre-A of photo 3, believed to be one of the oldest of the marque imported to Spain. Also the Pegaso Z-102 of the main photo was "one of the oldest", as its chassis numbers is actually the lowest known. Other postwar rarities typical from Barcelona are the varied selection of special bodied Seat, as the interesting Siata Patricia (photo 5) used for many years inside the factory carrying personalities during the official visits, or the 1400 B Commercial Van (photo 4). The Alfa Romeo 1900 Berlina (photo 6) has an interesting racing history in the hands of Adriano Pascucci at the 1957 1st Rallye Catalunya... but nobody could understand why its old patinated original paint had been substituted for this matte finish. And talking about original unrestored cars, what about the Glas 1004 Sedan (photo 7)? Perhaps the ugliest car present, but it gives an idea of the variety of postwar cars present at Auto Retro.
