Britain’s exit to the European Union is now only a month away. So it may be about time to see if the move will affect you and your beloved classic car(s). What you should know in eight points, according to those in the know:
1. Free movement of classic cars and parts to and from Europe will be limited.
2. You will have to pay VAT when exporting a classic from the UK.
3. You will also have to pay a 10% duty on the value of the car when doing so.
4. The lack of free movement across the EU could well increase the price of classics.
5. The value of the pound may well be affected. Most think it will be falling.
6. Brexit will almost certainly cause a disruption to the balance of the classic car market across Europe, say some.
7. Financial markets may well be affected, causing more investors focusing on classic cars, say others.
8. British traders may be selling more cars to markets beyond Europe.
So… good or bad news? We can’t be sure until it happens. We are pretty curious though. What do you think?
