The Moretti 750 Gran Sport seemed, for many years, to be one of the great forgotten cars of its era. Overshadowed by its flashier, 12-cylinder compatriots, only in recent times have these tiny beauties come to demand the respect - and price tags - they so clearly deserve.
We can't understand what kept the 750 GS in the shadows for so long; One look at the car today is enough to tell you this was one of Giovanni Michelotti's greatest designs, and he certainly has more classics than most in his resume. The closer you look, the better it gets, and its easy to forget how tiny the car really is, such is the delicate balance of its lines - until, that is, you park it next to a 'normal sized' car or two...
One of the more vocal fans of these rare beauties is Karl Ludvigsen, who throughout many years of ownership championed the cause of the forgotten jewels from Turin. He has explained what it is about the car he loved so much in the October issue of The Automobile, which is out now.
