This Monday a new James Bond movie will have its premiere in London. It’s called Spectre in case you missed it. And where there’s Bond, there’s Aston Martin. As despite several BMWs, Fords, Lotuses and a 2CV the quintessential Bond car remains off course the DB5. According to this article, there were nine Bond-DB5s throughout the years – two of which were ‘press cars’ to effectuate the necessary media attention.
Anyway: the DB5 is said to make another comeback in Spectre, but for the first time Aston Martin have now made a model specific for the movie, too. It’s called the DB10 and it’s not going to hit any showrooms near you, as it won’t come up for sale. It’s only made-for-movie. A first, says Aston Martin.
But hang on, they seem to have forgotten the Toyota of You Only Live Twice, seen above with the lovely Akiko Wakabayashi, our Friday Lady for today. That car never appeared in any showroom, except for the two custom-made for the filming. One of them is restored and on display at the Toyota Museum in Aichi now. The other's whereabouts are unknown to this day, but several production coupes were modified as Bond replicas. Let’s see who is brave enough to chop up his V8 Vantage to turn it into a DB10 replica now...
