What is left of the sport that skiing ever was? There was a time when snow sports were downright elitist, only carried out by people with certain backgrounds on wooden skis who had the time and money to spend a holiday in an art-deco palace in Switzerland or Austria. If you know look at the ski - and après-ski - industry that has taken the whole of the Alpes like an avalanche it’s a fact that things have changed. For worse? Well, it’s like mass motoring itself.
These blonde girls were at the start of the turn. Skiing still was the perfect association to promote a car and give it that touch of glamour. Even the mundane Opel Olympia. Hang on - that name – could it have had something to do with the Winter Olympics at the time? But elitist or not: if you plan to go alpine skiing, cross-country skiing or ski jumping yourself: be careful out there, as even the fastest can go wrong.
