Just too big

On this page we have only a limited space for the main picture. But this time we came across an automobile that’s just too big to fill the space. Whichever way we turned the photo, it just wouldn’t fit. Click to see what we mean. Big, isn’t it? The van is a 1951 Guy with a body that is generally described as a ‘Pantechnicon‘. This very British word comes from a nineteenth century furniture removal company that was called "The Pantechnicon" which used horse drawn vans for delivering and collecting furniture. The name stuck and today it’s term mostly used in Britain for this kind of large vans. This one, which looks splendidly finished in the livery of the ‘Silentnight bed manufacturing company’, will be for sale at Bonhams auction at Harrogate on November 16. We think it will make a fantastic transporter for your vintage racing cars.
