A fifty year old Cat.

Arguably the best looking mass production sports cars ever surely is the Jaguar’s XKE, better known as E-Type. You may have a different point of view, but bear in mind that sports cars used to be brutish, expensive and downright uncomfortable. The elegant, yet powerful E-type changed all that when it was launched in 1961. To mark this golden anniversary the Jaguar owners clubs in the UK have chosen the 2011 Silverstone Classic for celebrations. Off track it will be the greatest showing of E-Types ever assembled with owners bringing their Jaguars from all over the world. On track there will be two races dedicated solely to competition versions of the E-Type. With nearly 90 cars already registered with the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC), a record grid of more than 50 race-prepared E-Types is predicted, including the 11th Jaguar E-Type car made, one of the early pre-production cars that were sold to selected customers who would race them, and still is actively raced.
