Matthew bought this unidentified sportscar with Gullwing style doors back in 1986. And so far nobody has been able to identify the car. Now it is most probable that it is a one off, but even in that case the car should have a designer, a place of birth and a town it grew up in...
After nearly thirty years of research Matthew is begging for your help. Below the naked facts about his gull winged beauty as it looked back in the seventies:
- Registration 499EXE (1962)
- Chassis number GD628/1 (assume 1962 ties in with number plate, GD - builder's initials??)
- Pictures of body from 1970s - from person who went to look at but did not buy
- It went to a scrapyard - then bought by person I bought chassis from (they scrapped the body)
- The body had gull winged doors
- Independent front suspension
- Rack and pinion steering Mowog (cast mountings not U bolts so not Morris Minor - or maybe very early)
- Rear axle located A frame on top and two lower trailing arms (similar to Lotus)
- Wheels are three stud 15" Hillman / Rootes
- Rear axle 10cwt 1947 Hillman/Rootes van
- Brake drums 10" - rear Lockheed bi-sector expander rear - front two wheel cylinders (same as used on XK120)
