(You won't) Guess the base

These pictures of a typical American 'lead sled' conversion were sent to us. Unfortunately with no reference to a source, but we felt a strong need to share them here nevertheless. Now... things are not what they appear to be. You may notice that the car is quite a lot smaller than you may expect at first sight. Just take a look at the fourth picture to get what we mean. We actually think none of you will be able to guess what the base vehicle was that was used to create this creative creature. Perhaps the dashboard will give a clue? We're not sure, but are flabbergasted ourselves by such inguinety. At 5 PM (GMT) we will let you know the answer. Until then: keep on guessing!

Updated as promised: The car is based on a humble 1989 Citroen BX 16 TRS that was bought for 200 pounds by master craftsman Paul Bacon of West Leicester. Inspired by an American custom car called the Golden Sahara, he rebuild the tired family carrier in 18 months time into something unique with a fiberglass body over a steel framework, bonded onto the BX chassis. Quite a transformation! See proof of its humble base here.
