On August 26, 1959, both the Morris Mini-Minor and the Austin Seven bounced into the world. Quite literally, with their rubber ‘donut’ springs, short wheelbase and lively performance. There’s no doubt this car set the motoring trend for the 1960s and decades to come. But not only was it a very clever design, it was also a car that everyone loved. Has there ever been a car similarly classless as the original Mini? Besides, it brought quite a lot of colour into our streets, as today’s Friday Lady shows with her Italian-built Innocenti Mini and colour coded dress. And she certainly wasn’t on her own embracing this greatest of little cars. Happy birthday Mini!
