From MG to ACE to Cobra

On January 20-21 RM Auctions will be offering -among many other cars- Bill Jacobs collection of British sports cars. Among them the 1952 Tojeiro MG Barchetta Sports Racer that has the bored-out XPAG engine of the MG TD you see pictured above. This is one of the first race cars built by John Tojeiro. This MG can be seen as the forerunner of the famous Carroll Shelby Cobra’s, as Trojeiro took his design to A.C. who introduced it as the AC ACE, which in turn attracted Shelby’s interest, and the rest, as they say, is history.
