The photo shows a 4x4 four-tonner truck made by DAF for the Dutch army. In December 1976 a contract was signed between DAF and the Dutch government for 4000 units, which was later extended to a total of 7255 trucks. In fact, one of the largest orders DAF had received from the Defense Ministry up until that time. Well-known for their toughness, many of these YA 4440’s are still around after their army service.
