Donor cat saves race

By Bart Oosterling: During research for a project I coincidentally obtained photos of C-type XKC043 when owned by its (first?) Dutch owner. Just out of curiosity I checked if the “Cat” was still around and thru the marvels of Internet within a few hours I was in contact with the present owner and provided him with a few pieces of history until then unknown to him. As visible, the Dutch owner was not very lucky with the car and damaged the tail end.
Additional research learned that a short while later, another Dutchman with another XKC bent the nose of his car during practice session for a race at Zandvoort. As the race director of that race happened to be the owner of XKC043 and its nose was still intact, he kindly sent to collect the nose of his car (stored 230km away single trip) and after a night of work in the workshop the other racer could start in the race the next day. Sometime later XKC043 too was revitalized and racing again. This photo shows it is still a healthy “PUR”ring cat today. Besides in racing cars, donorship can help people too - to stay longer in their race to the finish. Please consider this- if you haven’t already.
