A Delahaye is a beautiful car, no doubt about that, especially the pre-war 135M are works of art. But we have our doubts about this later Drop Head Coupe. It was created in 1948 by ‘carrossier’ Marcel Pourtout whose workshop was located in Rueil-Malmaison in the west of Paris, the former premises of car maker Hurtu. Pourtout was a follower the post-war style to integrate everything into the main body, but we think this design is rather squat, plump if you like. Perhaps Pourtout was missing the hand of master designer Georges Paulin, who used to work for him in pre-war days. Anyway, this Delahaye took part in the 1949 Concours d‘Elegance Cascade at the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Can anyone tell us if it was given an award?
