Like Maserati, Dodge has been around for a century. Or actually: like the Maserati brothers, the Dodge brothers began fiddling with cars in 1914. Anyhow, if you look for highlights in Dodge’s post war history there’s no way to miss the adrenalin fueled late 1960s when the rivalry between American auto makers reached an uncivilized peak. They built their most outrageous muscle car at the time – the Charger. And if this motor was the epitome of muscle mania; Daisy Duke must have been the personification of the Charger girl. Not too refined, putting things mildly.
She was in fact a southern countries hillbilly in female guise. She had dirty fingernails, hot pants that would no doubt embarrass Twiggy and the driving and drinking characteristics of a moonshining hillbilly. I’m quite sure she would play the banjo, too. And although everyone must have loved her, I wonder if Dodge was happy with Daisy. In case you wondered: this is what she looks like today. Over to a less known but at least official Dodge girl then: the ‘Permatex Girl’, seen here on a ’69 Charger Daytona. Equally hot as Daisy, but with just that little bit of subtleness. Look, she even put off her shoes before posing under that fierceful wing!
