Colours of the fifties

Last week we were visiting a very nice xxl classic car showroom in the south of The Netherlands. Classic Park is clever situated along one of the most busy highways of the country so it is nearly impossible to overlook. Inside there is a superlarge showroom with a great diversity of classics ranging from the early teens into the seventies. Between all the glitz & glamour you could easily overlook this 50 cc gem parked in a far corner. The 1961 Paloma Super Strada Flash has all the sweet details to attract the early postwar youth. The bright two-tone paintwork. The 'panther leather' buddy seat. The racing cowl headlight. The force aircooled engine. It's all there. According to the website description the small bike was also seen on the filmposter with Johnny Haliday and Sylvie Vartan. And yes - click - we found it. Priced at Euro 4950 it may not be exactly cheap, but hey in view of contemporary art prices it's not that bad. Yet in case we were the serious buyer we would demand the Halliday-Vartan poster to come with the deal. Just to have the complete set ready for exposure in our living.
