PostWarClassic of the week: a highly original Spanish built 1969 Renault Alpine A110
The upcoming days will be all about cars, cars and cars. The Salon Rétromobile will be our home the upcoming week and for the last weeks we have been checking the cars that will be on show. One of them is the
Renault Alpine that is for sale by Coupe- Francisco Pueche.
The make Alpine is back. It has reached the media quite a lot the last couple of years but in our opinion it doesn’t come close to the cars from the sixties.
It was Jean Rédélé, a garage owner from Dieppe, France who used Renault 4CVs to race and win in a number of major events. While he was developing the car and gaining success, he started the Alpine marque and presented his first car in 1955.
The name Alpine was chosen after his successes in the Coupe des Alpes (still with his 4CV). The new Alpines reached a lot of success and was also very interesting for Renault. In 1973 Renault bought the company and kept producing the cars till 1995 in Dieppe.
In Spain, it was FASA who produced Renault Models under license. The models were adapted to the Spanish market and therefore modified. In 1963, they also started to build FASA Alpine cars. There are slight differences compared to the French built cars but they were mostly identical.
As Renault already took over FASA in 1965, the 1969 Alpine advertised was already named Alpine Renault before Renault officially was the owner of the Alpine brand, which is quite a fun fact.
The Renault Alpine A110 had 3 owners since new and according to the seller, it is in a very original condition. Well, we will see at Retromobile! We will show you the photos afterwards.
The Alpine can be seen at stand no. 1M086 (pavillion 1). If you happen to be there, also come and say hello at the PostWarClassic.com stand (Pavilion 1, close to the escalator). See you there.
The advert can be seen
