Buried IMFAP prototype discovered

A few days ago Francisco Carríon received photos of an old car described as "A bitza, probably made after the war with parts of many other cars, and virtually buried". And yes indeed, this is the impression every observer would have at first glance. However not Francisco! This is a unique car, a prototype of a very rare spanish marque produced in the 1950s. Despite its flimsy appearance, the Imfap was developed entirely by Natalio Orcajo, an experienced engineer who even created his own brand, "Nacional G", in the early 1940s.

The buried car is the last Imfap manufactured, the "Mini Break Practico" (period photo 2), which was fitted with a 700 cc air cooled two cylinder engine designed by Horcajo which is miraculously still in place (photo 3). The fragile original body is almost useless and the little factory wheels have been changed for bigger ones, but the essential parts are there. We understand the owner has been advised about the rarity of his pile of rust, and the car has been stored in a closed garage. There are many microcar collectors trying to buy and restore the Imfap... but for the moment the owner refuses to sell it. For more info about these picturesque cars please check this link.
