ex Blackhawk Delahaye appears to be ex Persian Sjah as well

This weekend's Monaco auction by RM will feature a 1950 Delahaye 235M 2 door hardtop by Ghia. Yesterday Dutch car historian Vincent van der Vinne came up with material showing the car was registerd in Holland earlier under the number  ?P-90-31. Dutch license plate historian Eduard Hattuma confirmed to us that the TP-90-31 indeed was known in Holland as a 1949 Delahaye 235 Ghia. Vincent van der Vinne, a Delahaye afficionado himself, found the car depicted in a 1965 car magazine Auto. According to the article the car was purpose built for the Sjah in 1949, who kept the car until 1957 when he sold the car to a KLM pilot who took it to Holland. The owner of a large bakery firm in Hilversum, a Mr. Wiltschut bought the car in 1964 and gives various details. The bonnet is 1.78 meters long. Overall length with the now missing bumpers 5 meters. Weight 1700 kilograms.  Petrol tank capacity 100 liters. The car had an airconditioning as well. Mr. Wiltschut paid Dfl. 60,000 for the 15 year old supercar, which was about similar to the price of a brandnew Ferrari 330 GT...  Let's see what RM Monaco will do to the ex-Sjah supercar.
