We never know what will happen with our puzzle, but certainly our two last postwar puzzles seem nearly impossible to crack, even for our most experienced readers. Last week we didn´t receive one single response, although finally the answer came after the deadline. This time two courageous readers sent us their ideas about this rare Fiat derivate, but nobody came up with the right answer.
Jury member Alan Spencer told "it's got Communism written all over it, especially in the panel fit! Did Trabant ever try to create a "stylish" coupe to replace the AWZ P601, which was actually quite cute?" Although the car perhaps has an "eastern air", Steve Bousfield came closer: "Moretti FIAT 500 Coupe or FIAT 850 Coupe Vignale??" Almost.
This unrestored vehicle was produced in small series in Spain during the 1960s under the name "Siata Tarraco". The Spanish Siata factory was located in Tarragona and produced a varied range of models, in general with different designs to the originals from the Italian Siata company. The Tarraco was based on the Fiat-Seat 600 platform produced in Barcelona, and no more than 500 seem to have been assembled, of which less than 50 units have survived. Perhaps too exotic, but next week a new chance!
