Yes, it was New Zealand, we were talking about in last week’s car puzzle. And despite the not so sunny picture above summer really is approaching in two days there. The car in question is the local De Joux Mini GT, built by Ferris de Joux. As this week’s winner is Paul Jaray, who wrote - not forgetting the fun factor: “He was an Auckland window dresser, and quite a talented designer. After a Seven Special, a couple of GTs (Holden and Standard engined), three Bucklers, a Ford and a Maserati special plus the infamous Ferraguar, he built this first Mini GT in 1969.” Actually De Joux’ first sketches appeared in the NZ motoring press as early as 1965, although it lasted several more years to come up with the prototype. Oh – and about the Ferraguar: Mark Dawber wrote: “I think that the De Joux GT bodied 375 Ferrari was used in an attempt on the NZ land speed record at one time”. We’re not sure about that one, but somebody else may shed a light on this matter. Paul Jaray had one more rabbit in his hat: “Back to this mini: 2-seater, fiberglass body, 1000cc engine by Jim Green. 19 More followed this prototype. Too much to say in 100 words!” Right so. And congratulations to you, Paul!
