When you are motoring near Amsterdam (for instance during The 100 Miles of Amsterdam) there is a slight chance that you come across a somewhat wide looking Austin Healey. And your eyes are not lying, as in that case you're looking at one of the three Austin Healeys which were made 6 inch wider in order to give room for Rolls Royce 4 litre engine plus Borg Warner auto-gearbox. By doing so the Austin Healey loses it's first name and becomes a Rolls Healey or officially Healey 4000R. The car was developed in the period 1966-1968 by DMH Motor Comp., yet the project was killed in favour of the MGC.
The car pictured is the only one with autoshift, the other two surviving prototypes (one in Australia and one in Switzerland) make use of a Jaguar gearbox. TNX65G was sold to a Healey client in February 1969 and found derelict in a workshop not too much later by Peter and Joe Cox. The car underwent a full restoration in 1976-78 and was sold to a Dutch owner in 2013. It is now guest of the only Healey Museum in the world and is part of "the driving collection". So yes you can meet the car "in the wild".
