While most competitors in the Classic Vehicle Challenge China (allow some loading time) are anxiously awaiting their car to arrive safely in TianJin there is one team remaining in a different kind of stress. Erik van Ingen Schenau and Leo Seewald are in a fight with the remaining time to get their car ready in time. Transport and import is not the issue as the car - a very rare 1968 Shanghai - already is in China.... which is an oddity in itself. Untill about ten years ago China had a scrap law. All cars older than 15 years - no matter if they were in good or bad condition - needed to be scrapped.... Apparently this one survived, probably well hidden for the authorities. It's just that the restoration is not errr .. how to say this... quite ready. Still the restoration company in Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton) is convinced that the car will be fully sorted by the end of September. Well, we keep you posted.
