While the late 1990s W210 Touring body style may appear to be vintage "soccer mom" catnip, the E 55 Touring's subtle, yet numerous factory AMG enhancements and inclusion within the vaunted Patina Collective suggest a long and studied second glance. First offered in 1998, the M113 V8-powered E 55 Sedan was readily available in the United States, yet its much rarer Touring variant was long forbidden fruit Stateside. To borrow Jaguar's famous slogan, those in the U.S. interested in true Teutonic W210 "grace, space, and pace" would wait a considerable 25 years before they could import the AMG they truly desired.
While the E 55 is without a doubt a rare bird, well-specified 354 PS AMG Tourings are even more so making this exceptional example finished in optional Green Black Metallic perhaps one of the most attractive on the U.S, market today. Options remained limited for the top-of-the-line E-Class wagon in 1998, yet the original ordering dealer saw it that it was further fitted with Black leather interior, rear badge delete, Parktronic, auxiliary heater, and more.
The Touring's build sheet reveals it was originally ordered through Mercedes-Benz's Bielefeld, Germany Branch. Later the car moved to Japan with its Japanese CarVX Report revealing a first registration in March 2004. Numerous inspections record ownership in Sgami and Chiba until November 2023. It also records a collision at a point before the car left Japan that was subsequently repaired. This powerful and attractive "long roof" became part of the vaunted Patina Collective in 2024 year with 90,782 kilometers. Offered today with 90,812 km or approximately 56,428 mi, this Green Black Metallic E 55 AMG T is offered with a CarVX Report from its time in Japan before joining The Patina Collective.
