Manufactured between 1965 and 1969, the Porsche 912 was very much the entry level Porsche sports car. Although, for some time, considered the poorer relation to the 911, the 912 is a serious sports car in its own right. With aerodynamic lines, low weight and an efficient engine, the 912 demonstrated good performance, nimble handling and economy, resulting in initial production cars outselling the 911. The 912 won Car and Driver's 1967 'Readers Choice' Poll for its class, a popular choice for motorsport teams and a rally prepared 912 won its class in the 1967 European Rally Championship.
Presented in a striking period-correct shade of Bahama Yellow, this beautifully proportioned 1966 Porsche 912 embodies the purity and understated elegance of Porsche's early short-wheelbase era. Sharing its iconic bodywork with the contemporary 911, the 912 combined the same timeless design with a lighter 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four engine derived from the final Porsche 356 models, creating a car renowned for its balance, agility and rewarding driving dynamics.
This example presents exceptionally well, its vibrant paintwork accentuating the graceful curves, slim pillars and delicate chrome detailing that define the original F-Series Porsche. The classic steel wheels with polished hubcaps, bright window surrounds and uncluttered bodywork contribute to an authentic and highly desirable appearance. Viewed from any angle, the car displays the clean, compact proportions that established the Porsche rear-engined sports car formula. The long, gently sloping bonnet, upright headlamps and fastback roofline combine to create one of the most recognisable silhouettes in automotive history. The 912's lighter four-cylinder engine gives it a distinctive character, with less rear weight bias than its six-cylinder sibling and a reputation for nimble handling and confidence-inspiring road manners. Contemporary enthusiasts continue to prize the model for its engaging driving experience, mechanical simplicity and increasing collectability. It comes with a full service history with original sale/purchase certificates and documentation. A charming and highly usable classic Porsche, this 1966 912 offers all the visual appeal of the early 911 with a character entirely its own—an elegant, sought-after example of one of Stuttgart's most enduring designs.
