The Mercedes-AMG GT made its debut in 2015 as the second sports car the company developed entirely in-house. It succeeded the highly regarded SLS AMG and, much like its predecessor, showcases the brand’s brilliant ability to combine extreme performance with refined luxury.

Underpinning the GT is a superbly balanced front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive chassis powered by hand-built versions of the company’s familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V-8. The GT R model, sold for the 2017 to 2021 model years, elevated performance with the upgrades from the GT S model—including an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, adaptive suspension, performance exhaust, and lithium-ion battery—plus active rear steering, and more power. The track-focused GT R also benefitted from wider, aerodynamically improved bodywork in the style of the AMG GT3 competition model, manually adjustable coil-over dampers and rear wing, active underbody fairing, nine-mode traction control system, active engine mounts, carbon-ceramic brakes, and engine output increased to 577 horsepower.

This Mercedes-AMG GT R was built to 2017 model year specification and dispatched on 6 July 2017, later being delivered new to Denmark on 11 July. Being an early-production example, it did not include a gasoline particulate filter—also called an otto particulate filter—in the exhaust system, which is said to have been incorporated into production from late 2018 onward. The car was first registered for the road in April 2018. It is finished in the model’s signature colour of AMG Green Hell Magno, a vibrant matte green that pays homage to the legendary Nürburgring racetrack in Germany, nicknamed “Green Hell” for its surrounding forests and punishing nature. The interior is finished in black leatherette and microfibre. Although the GT R came standard with some convenience features omitted to save weight, given the car’s purpose-built, track-focused intent, this example does include Keyless Go, integrated garage-door opener, power-folding, auto-dimming side mirrors, and high-end audio system—yet also features the Track Package with a full steel roll cage and bucket seats.

Acquired by the consignor in 2024 from its only private owner, and displaying just 59 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, this is the perfect daily driver track weapon or collection piece for the motorsport enthusiast.
