The 'spanish' BMW 2800 CS cabriolet pops up again! It's by Deutsch

It's amazing how true collector cars are in the focus of our readers. Last weekend the 1913 Premier once owned by Bill Coates was found back after half a century. Today we present you another car that was vanished in the horizon of time. Only to return on these pages this week!

Sascha Neuburger wrote us: "A few months ago someone asked about this car in your (web)Magazine. The car in Madrid was this one. It was built by Carl Deutsch GmbH in 1969 and it was going to BMW dealer Herranz in Madrid. It is fully original, first owner, 70000km colour 'nachtblau' (night blue). I bought it instead of an 2002 cabrio. Till 1971 Deutsch converted four cars into a cabrio."

Thanks for sharing this with us Sacha! If anybody else interested to know what happened to his car? Just let us know, send some info and a photo. We are here to help.

Editor: Just an hour before "closing for press" owner Sacha adds: "I live in Siegen/Westphalia in Germany. The car has been parked here after a service. Since my youth, I've been addicted to the new class of BMW. My 2800 CS was offered in a Spanish BMW- forum by the daughter of the first owner. When an intermediary in Spain offered the vehicle, I flew immediately to Madrid with a friend. He is also a BMW specialist, Rainer Ahrendt.

We were very surprised when the blue convertible appeared in front of us at a cafe. We only knew about a white german cabrio known from the magazines. Now that we have checked the paint, we found to our surprise, it is a 'nachtblau' original! Rainer informed at the BMW works about the chassis number and found that the car indeed was deliverd in 'nachtblau' at a BMW dealer in Cologne (Köln) in January 1969. Now it was clear there were at least two cars and what we found was the oldest. In Germany nobody knew this car still existed.

We receivd the original papers. The car had always been parked in an underground garage. the original top looks like it was on the first day. A true miracle. Four weeks later, the car was back in Germany. I have adjusted the carburettor, replaced the water hoses and filled the cooling system with Glysantin. And off we went to Veteramer Mannheim and the Nürburgring. A magnificent 1000 km drive."

Editor: After several decades the car was finally used for what is was meant for...
